Seminole Sunday Sauce — Aug. 9, 2026: FSU Soccer Picked to Finish Fourth in ACC

After winning its fifth national championship in 12 years last season, Florida State soccer isn’t projected to finish in the top three in its own conference this season. This week, the ACC’s coaches projected the Seminoles to finish fourth in the league.

It was tight toward the top, but FSU was picked behind projected champion Notre Dame, Stanford and Duke. The Fighting Irish received seven first-place votes. The Cardinal, Blue Devils and Seminoles each received three. North Carolina, picked fifth, was the only other school to earn a first-place vote.

FSU, however, did tie Notre Dame for the lead three preseason All-ACC selections: forward Wrianna Hudson, defender Janet Okeke and midfielder Nyanya Touray.

The hero of last season’s national championship win over Stanford, Hudson led the Seminoles with 15 goals and finished second on the team with 31 points last season. One of the ACC’s top defenders, Okeke finished with one assist in her first season with the Seminoles in 22 matches, including 21 starts. In 16 matches, Touray finished with two goals and two assists, including an unassisted goal in FSU’s 3-1 win over Georgetown in the Sweet 16.

FSU will also start No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll behind the aforementioned three ACC foes. With the season set to start this week, the soccer program will be the first FSU team in action this athletics year. The Seminoles open on Thursday at Stetson.
