Seminole Sunday Sauce — May 10, 2026: FSU Softball Wins 20th ACC Title

For the 20th time in program history, Florida State softball is the ACC champion. The Seminoles won three games in three days, including a pair of 1-run wins to claim the crown.

Things didn’t come easy for FSU in its ACC Tournament opener. The Seminoles were forced to rally but slipped past Georgia Tech in Thursday’s quarterfinal, 2-1.

After the Yellow Jackets scored first in the top of the third, Anna Hinde drew FSU even with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning. The Seminoles went ahead for good in the fifth as Bella Ruggerio was hit with the bases loaded. ACC Player of the Year Isa Torres scored both runs for FSU. Jazzy Francik and Ashtyn Danley combined to hold Georgia Tech to just three hits.

Against No. 14 Stanford, the No. 4 seed in the ACC Tournament, the Seminoles felt little resistance in the semifinals on Friday. Stanford swept FSU when the teams met in Palo Alto during the regular season and was the only ACC team to beat the Seminoles. With a trip to the ACC Championship on the line, however, FSU rolled to a 9-0 run-rule victory in five innings.

Bella Dimitrijevic and Danley combined to hold the Cardinal to just two hits. FSU scored three runs in the first, two in the second and four in the fourth. At the plate, Danley finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Torres and Makenna Sturgis each went 2-for-2, combining for five runs scored.

FSU won the crown with a 2-1 win over No. 13 Virginia Tech, the tournament’s third seed, in the ACC Championship on Saturday. After allowing an unearned run in the first, FSU went ahead for good with two runs in the second. Kennedy Harp doubled home the first run before scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

Although she was briefly relieved by Danley, Francik shined in the circle, yielding just three hits in six total innings. She was able to work out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth — the Hokies’ lone real threat after the first inning.

The win gave FSU its 20th ACC title in its 28th ACC Championship appearance. The Seminoles clinched the outright ACC regular season title last Sunday by topping Boston College, 8-0.

Torres and Beachum combined for five hits and each scored three runs in that one. Shelby McKenzie and Hinde each drove in two runs.

FSU will head to the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 49-8. The Seminoles will likely host a regional. They will learn who will join them in Tallahassee and their national seeding on Sunday.
