Seminole Sunday Sauce — July 20, 2025: FSU Baseball Sets Program Record with 11 Players Taken in MLB Draft

Florida State baseball’s 2025 season fell short of a return to the College World Series, but that didn’t stop the Seminoles from making history. FSU set a program record with 11 players taken in the Major League Baseball Draft.

The first three rounds saw the Seminoles set a program record with four players selected. Pitcher Jamie Arnold was the first FSU player off the board, going No. 11 overall to the Athletics.

Fellow Consensus All-American Alex Lodise, a shortstop and the ACC Player of the Year, went 60th overall to the Atlanta Braves in the second round. Pitcher Cam Leiter went five picks later to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Three of the next four FSU players off the board went to the Miami Marlins. Outfielder Max Williams was picked No. 78 in the third round. Infielder Drew Faurot was taken by Miami in the fourth round with the No. 108 overall pick. After pitcher Peyton Prescott went to the New York Mets in the fifth round at No. 163, the Marlins picked left-handed hurler Joey Volini five picks later.

Four FSU players were taken within 13 picks of each other in the 15th and 16th rounds. The lone FSU player taken in the 15th round, Evan Chrest went 462nd to the Cleveland Guardians. Outfielder Gage Harrelson was picked No. 469 overall by the Los Angeles Angels. Catcher Jaxson West went three picks later to the Toronto Blue Jays. Pitcher Maison Martinez was the final FSU player taken when he was selected with pick No. 474 by the Cincinnati Reds.

The 11 selections was not only the most ever for FSU in a single draft, but it was the most selections for any school. The previous high for the Seminoles was 10. That happened 30 years ago in 1995.
