Seminole Sunday Sauce — Nov. 9, 2025: McCray Sets FSU Hoops Assists Record as Seminoles Roll in Opener
The debut of new Florida State men’s basketball head coach Luke Loucks was a roaring success. The Seminoles rolled in their opener, downing Alcorn State at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Tuesday night, 108-76.
Robert McCray V stole the show for the Seminoles, setting the single-game assists record with 17 dimes. Chauncey Wiggins led six FSU players in double figures with 22 points.
As a team, FSU shot 56% from the field and 13-for-30 from distance. Lajae Jones finished with 18 points and seven assists. McCray and Alex Steen each added 12 points in the win. Cam Miles chipped in with 10 points.
FSU continued to roll against Alabama State on Friday night. Jones’ 20 points led five FSU players in double figures as the Seminoles cruised to a 101-64 victory over Alabama State.
FSU shot 47% from the field and attempted a program-record 47 3-pointers, making 18. Kobe MaGee finished with 16 points. Jones and Magee each had four makes from deep.
Martin Somerville added 14 points off the FSU bench. McCray and Wiggins each scored 12 in the victory.
Now 2-0, FSU will hit the road for its first true test on Tuesday night. The Seminoles make the trip to Gainesville to take on rival and reigning national champion Florida.
