Seminole Sunday Sauce — Feb. 8, 2026: FSU Lacrosse Tops Stetson in First-Ever Game

The newest sport for Florida State began on Saturday. The result was just as everyone had hoped. FSU lacrosse kicked off its inaugural season with a 14-4 rout of Stetson.

FSU never trailed in the contest. Summer Harrell scored the first goal in FSU history and assisted on the second — a score by Meg Kenny — as the Seminoles raced to a 2-0 lead.

Stetson answered with a goal, but that’s as close as it would get. FSU led 7-3 at halftime before opening the second half with five straight goals.

FSU finished with 33 shots to just 15 for the Hatters. Lydia Ward led FSU with three goals while Brynn Perkins added two. Katherine Rathjen added a goal and two assists in the victory.

With its inaugural win out of the way, FSU will return to action on Monday against Kennesaw State. It will play its first-ever ACC game and first-ever road game on Friday at California.
