Seminole Sunday Sauce — May 3, 2026: FSU Beach Volleyball Falls in National Semifinals

Another outstanding season for Florida State beach volleyball ended two wins short of that coveted first national championship. The Seminoles finished 2-1 at the NCAA Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

No. 5 seed FSU opened with an easy 3-0 win over No. 12 seed Stetson on Friday. Pairs of Alexis Durish/Audrey Koenig, Iane Henke/Kenzie Hultquist and Bailey Higgins/Myriah Massey each won in straight sets.

The Seminoles faced a little more resistance from No. 4 seed USC in the national quarterfinals on Saturday, but still earned a 3-0 victory. The pair of Henke and Hultquist again won in straight sets. FSU’s Kyleene Filimaua/Saofe Duval also won in straight sets. The duo of Durish and Koenig clinched the victory by surviving a 3-set thriller over USC’s Zoey Henson/Sarah Wood pair, 21-19, 14-21, 15-13.

Against top-seeded Stanford, FSU fell in a hard-fought 3-1 contest. After the Cardinal took the first point, Durish/Koenig quickly evened things with a straight-set win.

Stanford, however, prevailed with two 3-set victories. After Maddie Trusty/Gella Andrew fell for FSU, the duo of Henke/Hultquist lost to Stanford’s Charlotta Bell/Logan Tusher in a match in which no set was decided by more than three points.

With the defeat, FSU finishes with a record of 35-3 — a program record for wins. Stanford will take on UCLA for the national title on Sunday.
