Seminole Sunday Sauce — June 7, 2026: Seasons End for FSU Men’s Golf, Baseball

Two more Florida State seasons have come to an end.

On the links, Florida State men’s golf settled for a 30th-place finish as a team at the NCAA Championships. The Seminoles failed to make the cut following the third round of stroke play on Sunday. Individually, Jack Whaley had the best finish for FSU, placing 14th overall at 6-under par.

On the diamond, Florida State baseball’s season ended on Monday. Needing to beat St. John’s twice to advance to the NCAA Super Regional, FSU fell in the first game, 5-4.

A solo home run by Cal Fisher and a Brody DeLamielleure RBI single gave FSU an early 2-0 lead, but Adam Agresti’s grand slam in the fifth put St. John’s ahead for good. The Red Storm added an unearned run in the sixth, which proved to be huge. Fisher’s second home run of the game — a 2-run blast in the ninth — cut the deficit to one but that’s when the Seminoles ran out of magic as St. John’s won the double-elimination Tallahassee Regional.

FSU prolonged its season by completing two wins on Sunday. After Trey Beard was able to pitch the Seminoles to a 2-1 win over Coastal Carolina in a contest that started on Saturday, FSU rallied past Northern Illinois in 10 innings, 7-4.

The Seminoles trailed 4-3 in the eighth before Nathan Cmeyla’s RBI double tied the game. With the Seminoles batting as the visiting team, Hunter Carns put FSU ahead to stay with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th. Ben Barrett put the exclamation point on the win with a 2-run home run two batters later.

Brodie Purcell threw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the final win of the year for the Seminoles. FSU finishes with a record of 40-19. St. John’s moves on to face Alabama in the best-of-3 NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
