Seminole Sunday Sauce — July 6, 2025: FSU Baseball’s Lodise and Arnold Earn Consensus All-American Status

With the calendar turned to July, it is a quiet time for Florida State athletics. For a pair of FSU baseball players, however, 2025 was anything but quet.

Shortstop Alex Lodise and pitcher Jamie Arnold have each been recognized as Consensus All-Americans. To garner that distinction, a player must earn All-American status from a majority of the following publications: American Baseball Coaches Association, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, National College Baseball Writers Association, USA TODAY, Perfect Game, College Baseball Hall of Fame and D1Baseball.

The winner of the Dick Howser Trophy and a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award as the nation’s top player, Lodise finished the year by batting .394 with 17 home runs and 68 RBIs. In addition to the national accolades, Lodise was named the ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

Arnold wrapped up a stellar junior season by going 8-2 with a 2.98 ERA. Arnold ranked in the top 10 nationally with 119 strikeouts for the season.

While Lodise and Arnold earned Consensus All-American status, first baseman Myles Bailey was recognized as a Freshman All-American by Perfect, Baseball America and D1Baseball. Bailey hit .327 with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs this season.

As a team, the Seminoles finished 42-16 and reached the NCAA Super Regional round. Both Lodise and Arnold are expected to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft later this month. Arnold is projected to go as high as No. 1 overall.
