Seminole Sunday Sauce — Oct. 5, 2025: FSU Football’s Rally Comes Up Short vs. No. 3 Miami
Nineteen unanswered points in the fourth quarter weren’t enough for Florida State football on Saturday as the 18th-ranked Seminoles dropped a second straight game, falling at home to No. 3 Miami, 28-22.
The Seminoles trailed 28-3 in the final period before putting together touchdown drives with strikes from Tommy Castellanos to Lawayne McCoy and Randy Pittman Jr. capping the marches. Each was followed by a successful 2-point try. Jake Weinberg’s 35-yard field goal cut the lead to six with 20 seconds left but FSU was unable to recover the ensuing onside kick.
Carson Beck finished with four touchdown passes for Miami — two each to Malachi Toney and CJ Daniels. Castellanos passed for 272 yards for FSU while rushing for a team-high 57 yards, but two interceptions proved critical. FSU finished minus-3 in the turnover category.
FSU finished with 404 yards of offense to 338 for the Hurricanes but Miami did play turnover-free. They did commit 13 penalties for 114 yards.
With the defeat, FSU falls to 3-2 and 0-2 in ACC play. The Seminoles will try to get their first conference win on Saturday when they host Pittsburgh.
