Seminole Sunday Sauce — Oct. 12, 2025: FSU Suffers Third Straight Loss vs. Pitt

What had the promise of a season to remember is turning into another to forget for Florida State football. The 25th-ranked Seminoles suffered a third straight loss on Saturday, falling at home to Pittsburgh, 34-31.

FSU was terrorized by Pitt true freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel, who threw for 321 yards and two touchdowns. As a team, the Panthers finished with 476 yards of offense.

FSU took a 21-14 lead into the locker room on Tommy Castellanos’ 25-yard touchdown pass to Landen Thomas late in the first half. Pitt, however, punted just once in the second half. Trey Butkowski’s field goal with 7:15 remaining put the Panthers ahead for good.

FSU finished with 415 yards of offense but it wasn’t enough. Castellanos passed for 245 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. Micahi Danzy led the Seminoles with seven catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

Earl Little and Edwin Joseph each had interceptions for the FSU defense. The Seminoles, however, allowed the Panthers to go 3-for-3 on fourth-down tries. Heintschel led Pitt with 64 yards rushing.

With the loss, FSU has dropped three straight games after an 3-0 start and has lost eight straight ACC games going back to last season. The disappointing stretch has FSU fans questioning head coach Mike Norvell’s future. The Seminoles will try to bounce back next week at Stanford.
