Seminole Sunday Sauce — Oct. 19, 2025: FSU Men’s Hoops Picked 15th in ACC, Women Ninth

Basketball season is right around the corner, but big things aren’t expected of either of Florida State’s hoops teams.

Earlier this week, FSU men’s basketball was picked to finish just 15th in the 17-team ACC by the conference’s media. Replacing a legend is never easy, but that is the task in front of first-year head coach Luke Loucks. In the final season under Leonard Hamilton, the Seminoles finished 17-15 overall and 8-12 in ACC action.

Loucks’ first-year roster is full of new faces. Chauncey Wiggins, Kobe Magee and Lajae Jones are three transfers expected to make a big impact.

The FSU women were picked to finish ninth in the ACC as they enter their fourth season under head coach Brooke Wyckoff. The Seminoles finished 24-9 last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

FSU will miss Ta’Niya Latson and Makayla Timpson. Latson transferred to South Carolina while Timpson helped the Indiana Fever make a deep WNBA playoff run. Returners Amaya Bonner and Sydney Bowles will be key pieces for FSU this season along with Towson transfer Allie Kubek.

Neither program had a player named to the preseason All-ACC team. Both teams will begin their seasons during the first week in November. The FSU women will host Florida A&M on Nov. 3 before the men take on Alcorn State on Nov. 4.
