Seminole Sunday Sauce — Oct. 26, 2025: FSU Soccer Scores Signature ACC Win at No. 3 Virginia
Entering Thursday night’s match in Charlottesville, Florida State soccer was in a bit of a funk. The Seminoles had gone 0-2-1 in their previous three matches and 20 days without a win.
Things turned against No. 3 Virginia as the 11th-ranked Seminoles picked up a statement win. Wrianna Hudson’s goal in the 89th minute lifted FSU to a thrilling 3-2 victory.
After a scoreless first half, the Cavaliers broke through in the 49th minute. FSU’s Jordynn Dudley had an answer. After coming through with the equalizer in the 59th minute, the junior gave FSU its first lead less than five minutes later.
Trailing 2-1, Virginia drew even in the 79th minute on a goal from Meredith McDermott. It looked as though a third ACC draw was inevitable, but Hudson was able to take a shot from Dudley and slip it past the Virginia keeper with just 80 seconds remaining. Dudley capped a 5-point night with the assist.
Also recording assists for the Seminoles were Yuna McCormack , Kameron Simmonds and Sophia Nguyen. Addison Halpern finished with a goal and an assist for Virginia.
With the win, FSU moved to 9-2-3 overall and 5-2-2 in ACC action. The Seminoles are currently tied with Louisville for third in the conference standings. FSU will close the regular season at home against Wake Forest on Thursday.
