Seminole Sunday Sauce — Sept. 6, 2026: FSU Soccer Tops Georgia in Top-25 Thriller

Less than a week after having its 36-match regular-season unbeaten streak ended by rival Florida, Florida State soccer appeared destined for a second straight road loss. At No. 25 Georgia, the 15th-ranked Seminoles rallied for a stunning 2-1 victory on Thursday night.

Sam Erbach played the role of hero for FSU, scoring two goals in the final 7:13 to complete the comeback. After coming through the equalizer in the 83rd minute, FSU was awarded a penalty kick following a foul in the box with just 16 seconds remaining. Erbach calmly converted, giving FSU its biggest win of the young season.

FSU won despite being outshot 18-16. The Seminoles did hold an 8-4 edge in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Kate Ockene finished with three saves in the win for FSU.

Emma Pettersen scored the lone goal for Georgia in the 35th minute to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at halftime. Erbach finished with a match-high four shots. Jordan Brown had six saves in goal for Georgia.

With the win, FSU improved to 4-1 on the year. FSU will host Rice on Sunday in its final non-conference tune-up before beginning ACC play at home on Friday against NC State.
