Seminole Sunday Sauce — Nov. 1, 2026: FSU Soccer Tops No. 5 Duke for 500th Win in Program History

A 5-time national champion, Florida State soccer picked up a signature win and a milestone victory on Thursday night. The No. 22 Seminoles defeated fifth-ranked Duke 2-1 at Seminole Soccer Complex for the 500th win in program history.

Both FSU goals came in the first 13 minutes. After Shaneil Buckley got the scoring started with an electrifying goal in which she went the distance of the field in the 10th minute, Tanner Strickland doubled the lead to 2-0 in the 13th minute. Sam Erbach was credited with the assist on the second goal.

Mia Minestrella was able to take advantage of an FSU miscue to cut the lead in half for Duke late in the first half. Neither team scored in the second half. The contest was also FSU’s annual “Paint it Pink” match.

Duke held an 11-8 advantage in total shots, but both teams finished with five on goal. Kate Ockene finished with four saves for the Seminoles.

With the win, FSU improved to 8-2-3. The Seminoles will wrap up the regular season this week with a trip to Miami on Sunday and a home match with Virginia Tech on Thursday. With wins in both of those contests, FSU would clinch a spot in the ACC Tournament.
