Seminole Sunday Sauce — May 18, 2025: FSU Softball Opens NCAA Tournament with Consecutive Run-Rule Victories
Through two days of the NCAA Tournament, Florida State softball has felt little resistance. The Seminoles are one win away from the NCAA Super Regional round following a pair of run-rule victories to open the Tallahassee Regional.
No. 5 national seed FSU needed just five innings to dispose of Robert Morris on Friday, 10-1. After Isa Torres scored on FSU’s first swing of the day, the Seminoles blew things open with five runs in the third before adding four in the fourth.
Torres, Jahni Kerr and Jaysoni Beachum each had two hits. Beachum finished with three RBIs. In the circle, Annabelle Widra and Julia Aspel combined to hold the Colonials to just an unearned run on four hits.
Batting as the visitor, FSU rolled to an 8-0 win over South Florida on Saturday in six innings. Ashtyn Danley and Jazzy Francik combined to hold the Bulls to just two hits.
At the plate, Amaya Ross stole the show with two home runs and three RBIs. Shelby McKenzie added a 2-run homer to cap the scoring. Torres went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
FSU will now have two chances to beat Auburn once. The Seminoles and Tigers will square off at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
