Notable Seminole Birthday: 2-time FSU Baseball All-ACC Infielder Devon Travis Turns 35
Born Feb. 21, 1991, Florida State baseball 2-time All-ACC infielder Devon Travis turns 35 today!
A native of Wellington, infielder Travis spent three seasons with the Florida State baseball program from 2010 to 2012. During his time in Tallahassee, Travis helped the Seminoles make a pair of College World Series appearances. He was recognized as a first-team All-ACC performer in each of his final two seasons on campus.
As a freshman in 2010, Travis helped FSU win the ACC and make it to Omaha. That season, he batted .276 with three home runs and 22 RBIs. In 2011, the first of consecutive All-ACC seasons, Travis upped his production, hitting .329 with six home runs and 33 RBIs.
As a junior in 2012, Travis hit .325 and increased his power numbers to eight home runs and 44 RBIs. Travis helped FSU make a return trip to the College World Series and was recognized as a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. He also set a career-high with seven stolen bases.
The older brother of former Florida State football quarterback and ACC Player of the Year, Jordan Travis, Devon Travis was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. Travis would spend four seasons in the big leagues as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2015 to 2018.
A .276 career hitter, Travis tallied 35 home runs and 153 RBIs at the Major League level. Travis ranks ninth in FSU history with 58 career doubles.
