Notable Seminole Birthday: Football All-American Pat Tomberlin Turns 60
Born Jan. 29, 1966, former Florida State football All-American offensive lineman Pat Tomberlin turns 60 today!
A native of Middleburg, the massive Pat Tomberlin was a 4-year starter for Florida State. A member of the program from 1985 to 1988, Tomberlin played in every game except one over his four years in Tallahassee. With the 6-foot-4, 305-pounder up front, the Seminoles finished in the top 10 in scoring offense every year.
After making nine starts at left guard as a freshman in 1985 and earning Freshman All-American and second-team All-South Independent honors, Tomberlin moved to tackle and earned first-team All-South Independent in each of his final three seasons on campus. Tomberlin earned honorable mention All-American status as a sophomore in 1986 and third-team recognition in 1987.
As a senior in 1988, Tomberlin was named an All-American by multiple publications, including a first-team selection by Walter Camp. FSU finished ranked in the top five nationally in each of his final two years with the program.
Selected in the fourth round of the 1989 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, Tomberlin appeared in regular season games in just two NFL seasons. He played in all 16 games for the Colts in 1990 with 10 starts and played two games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1993.
