Notable Seminole Birthday: FSU Softball Legend and WCWS Hero Meghan King Turns 30
Born Jan. 25, 1996, former Florida State softball pitcher and 4-time All-ACC performer Meghan King celebrates her 30th birthday today!
native of Parkland, Meghan King spent five seasons as a member of the Florida State softball program from 2015 to 2019. The Seminoles won the ACC in each of King's five seasons on campus. She was named first-team All-ACC and to the ACC All-Tournament team in each of her final four seasons. Over each of her final three seasons, King never had an ERA higher than 1.5.
After going 25-5 with 2.30 ERA as a redshirt freshman in 2016, King went 27-3 with a 1.50 ERA as a sophomore and 26-6 with a career-low 1.17 ERA as a redshirt junior in 2018. King shined all throughout her FSU career, but in 2018, she performed on the biggest stage as the Seminoles won six straight elimination games en route to their first national championship as a fastpitch program.
King went 4-0 during the Women's College World Series and set a WCWS record with an 0.20 ERA. She was the winning pitcher in each of the two games of the championship series against Washington.
As a senior in 2019, King was recognized as a second-team All-American by NFCA and the MVP of the ACC Tournament after picking up wins without allowing an earned run in victories over Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and North Carolina. She finished her final season with a 30-7 record -- a career-best for wins -- and 1.43 ERA while setting career-highs for innings pitch (210.1) and strikeouts (237).
King ranks third in FSU history in pitching appearances (173), saves (11) and starts (130). She also ranks fourth in career innings (791), second in wins (108), 10th in shutouts (28) and seventh in winning percentage (.837).
