Seminole Sunday Sauce — Dec. 14, 2025: FSU Soccer Tops Stanford for Fifth National Championship

For the fifth time in 12 seasons, Florida State soccer reigns supreme. The third-seeded Seminoles claimed the national championship on Monday night with a thrilling 1-0 win over No. 1 seed Stanford.

Scoreless for nearly 87 minutes, FSU used a series of outstanding passes to set up Wrianna Hudson’s goal in the 86th minute. Taylor Suarez and Janet Okeke were credited with the assist.

It marked the second straight match that Hudson scored the lone goal. The star of the night, however, might have been FSU goalkeeper Kate Ockene.

Ockene came up with timely saves throughout the night, recording a career-high nine stops. The Cardinal outshot FSU 18-8 and finished with a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Hudson was named the Offensive MOP of the College Cup while Ockene took home Defensive MOP honors. Suarez, Peyton McGovern and Heather Gilchrist were also named to the College Cup All-Tournament team.

The victory served as FSU’s second under fourth-year head coach Brian Pensky. It marks the first time that FSU won the title as lower than a No. 1 seed.
