Seminole Sunday Sauce — Oct. 18, 2026: FSU Men Picked to Finish 7th in ACC, Women Picked 14th

For Florida State basketball fans, hoops season is just around the corner. Earlier this week, ACC media votes were tallied for the 2026-27 season.

On the men’s side, head coach Luke Loucks and company were picked to finish seventh in the conference. Following a rough start, FSU finished the 2025-26 season by winning 11 of its final 14 games to finish 18-15.

Loucks is bringing in a stellar freshman class and a couple of talented transfers in Anthony Robinson II and Sebastian Rancik. FSU was picked behind (in order) Duke, Virginia, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina and Clemson.

In its first exhibition game on Wednesday night, FSU finished strong to beat Auburn in Birmingham in the Ballin in Boutwell preseason event, 82-71. Kameron Taylor led four FSU players in double figures scoring with 19 points. Marcis Ponder added 13 points and 21 rebounds.

Coming off their worst season in 27 years, the FSU women were picked to place 14th in the ACC. Entering their fourth season under head coach Brooke Wyckoff, the Seminoles went just 10-21 overall and 5-13 in ACC play last season.

FSU’s Missy Odom was named to the preseason ACC All-Freshman team. Senior guard Solé Williams headlines the returning Seminoles.

Both teams will begin their seasons on Nov. 2. The FSU men will take on Florida A&M in Tampa. The FSU women will play host to Merrimack.
